Considering our hot weather, I can't justify spending so much on something I would probably only get to wear 1-2 times a year, plus I'm short, and I think trench coats can make short people look shorter.

'Wear Red Day' fights women's heart disease

    TODAY

Seeing red: TODAY's Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, Kathie Lee Gifford and Natalie Morales take part in Wear Red Day on Feb. 3.

    By Rina Raphael

Red isn't just the color of seduction. It's also the shade of supporting women's health.

Today, the first Friday of February, is Wear Red Day, which promotes awareness of heart disease, the number one killer of women. (It's also American Heart Month). On this day, ladies are encouraged to wear anything red, be it a dress, shoes, scarf — or even just a pin.

"I learned late in life that my heart health is my greatest asset, which is why I celebrate National Wear Red Day," said Star Jones, TODAY contributor and National Volunteer for the American Heart Association. "Join me."

In honor of the campaign, TODAY's lovely talent donned the striking crimson hue this morning. Join them in their fight against the disease by sharing your own photos! If you're in the chosen color today, upload a photo to the Wear Red Day Facebook page and TODAY's Facebook wall!

Learn more about Wear Red Day by visiting their website and check out TODAY Facebook submissions below:

Natalie's a style star with a side braid

    TODAY

Side braids are all the rage, and our own Natalie Morales rocked the trend on Friday's show. It's no surprise, as Natalie has a history of being fashion-forward, whether it's stepping out in a leopard print Helene Berman coat or going "Flintstone" chic.

Let's just hope she keeps her ugly sweater tucked away for the rest of the holiday season!

Want to rock your own side braid? Pull your hair to one side and begin a standard braid below the ear. The looser and messier looking, the better. Voila! Perfect for the pool or date night. Want more braiding tips? Click here.

Check out more stars who are keeping side braids in style.

It's funny to me that Natalie's 'bad hair day' fix is spun as 'style star'. It looked neither 'star' nor 'style'. The next day she was back with her long flowing hair happy to forget the previous day's silliness.

Anchors don ugly Christmas sweaters: Whose was the worst?

'Tis the season ... for ugly Christmas sweaters!

Once an endearing gift from a well-meaning grandma, hideous jumpers have become a fad, spawning booming businesses, Facebook groups and sweater parties.

Savannah picked out some especially gnarly knits for our anchors and a few guests (Brian Williams and Matt Damon got roped in, as well as our crew and the entire control room). Check out the pics below and vote in our poll: Whose sweater is the ugliest?

Upload your own photos of ugly Christmas sweaters. TODAY.com posted some of the worst offenders.

As a person who has unabashadly worn Christmas sweaters (note no "uglly") for 30 years I would like to say this.... I think all you who are now pretending that you want to wear these sweaters as a joke are posers.

Wow, sorry, but no matter how cute, all these things are highly overpriced! I have seen leopard print shoes at Payless for about $25, and have seen leopard print coats and jackets at Marshall's for about half the price of the Old Navy coat.

How many shoes do YOU own? The anchors count 'em up

    TODAY

    By Amy DiLuna

Pro poker player Beth Shak's footwear obsession -- she may own 1,200 shoes -- spurred our anchors to talk about their own shoe habits.

We see Matt, Ann, Al and Natalie every day -- slick-shined wingtips on the guys, sky-high stiletto platforms on the women. But just how many pairs populate their closets?

"Probably 15," Al said. "Probably between 50 and 75, somewhere in that range," Natalie said.

Ann was a bit more wary. "I never counted," she hedged at first. When prodded, she admitted that if you factor in flip-flops she owns close to 80 pairs of shoes.

    TODAY

    Amy Robach's shoes.

Amy Robach, sporting a pair of borrowed glittering sky-high purple Christian Louboutin platforms, said she has about 50.

Matt admitted to having between 30 and 35 pairs in his closet. But maybe that's because it's full with a different garment - his extensive tie collection.

"I have a ridiculous amount of ties," Matt said -- who places his neckwear haul at under 300, but "probably" over 200. "And not all of them are polka dot," cracked Ann.

Later, Matt put the question to Martha Stewart. And of course, Martha gave the perfect answer.

"Not enough, obviously," she laughed. "My shoes never wear out, so I wear the same shoes for years."

How many shoes do YOU own. And yes, we're including flip-flops!

Do the TODAY anchors coordinate their outfits?

Jeff Lewis of Bravo's "Flipping Out" pick on Natalie and Savannah's wardrobe and the anchors admit they don't coordinate outfits before the show.

    By Katie Quinn

Most TODAY viewers wonder whether or not the anchors choose their own wardrobe.  Last month, Natalie Morales dished that she does, in fact, wear her own clothes, adding, "I'm a good shopper!"

This morning on TODAY, Natalie and Savannah Guthrie revealed another oft-pondered viewer question: Do the anchors coordinate their outfits prior to the show?

As evidenced by their clashing patterns, the answer is no. Jeff Lewis of Bravo's "Flipping Out" even had a few critiques of their choices.

And Lewis wasn't the only one handing out style commentary. After Natalie read the news at 8, Matt quipped that her dress looked like it was from "The Flintstones." "I knew it was coming!" Natalie said. (Watch Matt give Natalie a joking zing in the clip below).

The truth is, Natalie did not shop at a Bedrock boutique for her perfectly lovely polka-dotted shift. It's a Kay Unger dress, topped with a cardigan from J. Crew. So take that, fashion peanut gallery!

TODAY's Matt Lauer jokingly makes fun of Natalie Morales for wearing a dress he thinks looks like it's from the cartoon "The Flintstones."

The ladies of the 4th hour, on the other hand, DO coordinate outfits!  See the clip, below, to hear how Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb decide what to wear each morning.

Dec. 28: Did you know that the TODAY hosts try to coordinate their outfits every morning? Kathie Lee and Hoda chat about their routines before they appear on TODAY.
