Bobbie's Buzz: New year, new sporty style solutions

    TODAY style editor Bobbie Thomas

    By Bobbie Thomas

Everyone makes resolutions for the new year, but the trick is sticking with them. TODAY style editor and Bobbie.com's Bobbie Thomas shares a few products to help keep you on track:

    Girlfriend support
All of my girlfriends with "girlfriends" know that having inadequate chest support can make a workout routine rather uncomfortable, so I was thrilled to come across Panache's sports bra designed with D-H cups in mind.  The "no-bounce" bra can reduce up to 83 percent of the jiggle while you jog, and features a comfy yet heavy duty underwire and adjustable straps ($68; nordstrom.com).

    Sporty storage
If you're favorite athletic attire doesn't include pockets, you'll be excited to meet Contigo's "Kangaroo" water bottle, which features a built-in storage compartment for keys, money, gym card, ID and more.  It's also 100 percent leak-proof and comes in an assortment of sleek colors ($9.74; gocontigo.com).

    Locked-up laces
Whether you're an athlete or you just can't stand tying your shoes, everyone will find something to love with X-Laces.  The knotted designs allow all shoes to become comfortable slip-ons, so you'll never have to lace up again. X-Laces also keep pressure on your foot at a consistent level for a solid workout, and bonus -- they'll add some extra style to your 'sneaks ($14.95; xlaces.com).

TODAY style editor Bobbie Thomas shares items to help you get in shape and stay that way for 2012.

    Bobbie's Minute Buzz: Giving back

    TODAY style editor Bobbie Thomas

    By Bobbie Thomas

While today marks the start of the year's busiest shopping season, it's more importantly also a time when we all pause to acknowledge what we're thankful for and share that thanks with others. So there is no time like the present to scoop up thoughtful gifts that give back for the holidays. Whether you've already hit some of Black Friday's sales or you plan to avoid the crowds in favor of Cyber Monday, TODAY Style Editor and Bobbie.com's Bobbie Thomas shares stylish ideas that you'll feel good about giving.

The Beauty Book for Brain Cancer

Founded by photographer Darren Tieste in 2009 after losing a friend to brain cancer, and then produced in collaboration with "Pantera" Sarah Uphoff whose also lost her mother to the disease, The Beauty Book for Brain Cancer is a 312 page hardcover coffee table book featuring stunning images of many of the world's most famous celebrities, musicians and top models. A beautiful homage to those affected by brain cancer, all of the book's proceeds go directly to research via two charities: SNOG and HEADRUSH. ($39.99; TheBeautyBook.org)

    FEED Projects

Hunger is #1 on the list of the of the world's top 10 health risks and FEED is an organization started by acclaimed model and activist Lauren Bush along with Ellen Gustafson that aims to help provide food to the hungry both here in the U.S. and abroad. What stared with the design of the FEED 1 bag, a reversible burlap and cotton bag whose number "1" signifies that each bag sold feeds one child in school for one year, FEED has now sold over $6 million worth of products (from cute and cuddly teddy bears, to totes, to bracelets and beyond) and provided over 60 million meals ($15-100; FEEDprojects.com)

    Social Goodies

While e-commerce daily deal sites seem to be all the rage these days, Social Goodies is one that stands out as distinct in that it's goal is to raise money for charity while also providing good deals. Consumers will get up to 70% off fashion, beauty, lifestyle and home decor items and then be able to donate 20% of the gross purchase price to one of the site's sponsored charities. There is also an option to give "Goodie Bucks" which the receiver can then use to shop with and apply their 20% to the charity of their choosing. (SocialGoodies.com)

Bobbie's Minute Buzz: Breast cancer awareness

    TODAY style editor Bobbie Thomas

    By Bobbie Thomas

    Sparkle Support

An issue close to every woman's heart, many stars have come up with ways to join the fight against breast cancer. To help bring awareness to the importance of screenings and prevention, Fergie Footwear has created this limited edition, pink glitter shoe aptly called Awareness. And so far in 2011, Brown Shoe Company has donated $20,000 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure in connection with this program ($79.99 Fergieshoes.com).

    Betsey's BCA Items

A breast cancer survivor herself, Betsey Johnson created a collection including everything from socks and totes to tanks and charm bracelets with all proceeds going to Fashion Targets Breast Cancer and The Weill Cornell Breast Center at Presbyterian Hospital where Johnson was treated. (Be Strong Tote, $75; and 2-pack crew socks, $20; betseyjohnson.com).

    BCA Beauty

Last but not least, certain beauty companies are going above and beyond and donating 100% of their proceeds to the cause. Jane Iredale's "Roses & Lollipops Lip Duo" a creamy, pigment rich gloss  ($30; http://shop.janeiredale.com/) and Philosophy's "Shower for the Cure" gel ($20; Philosophy.com) are two great products worth every penny.

The money into cancer research vs. the results out are dismal! A lot of people are making a very good living off cancer hype! With not much to show in the way of positive results. Maybe a rethinking of this whole process is required?

    Bobbie's Minute Buzz: Caffeine craze

    TODAY style editor Bobbie Thomas

    By Bobbie Thomas

No longer just an early morning drink, coffee has become part of our culture. From caffeine infused foods to fashion, TODAY Style Editor Bobbie Thomas shares a few fun ways to get your fix.

    Starbucks Style
From the famous Space Needle skyscraper to Kathie Lee's new play "Saving Aimee," Seattle has made countless cultural contributions over the years, including everyone's favorite 'AM' indulgence, Starbucks. This year marks the international coffeehouse's 40th anniversary, and in honor, they've teamed up with award-winning fashion designers Alexander Wang, Sophie Theallet and Billy Reid to create a limited edition set of tees.  Alexander Wang's even features an effortlessly chic "coffee stain" motif ($85; starbucksstore.com).

    Energizing Edibles
Not since coffee met donut has caffeine found such a perfect mate, and I was beyond excited to come across 'Smack in the Face' caffeinated brownies and cookies. Each treat has 200mg of caffeine, roughly equivalent to 2 cups of coffee, and is sure to have you bouncing off the walls with delight ($3.99-$5.99; thinkgeek.com). For those interested in ingesting caffeine in a new way each morning, Seattle is also home to 'Wired Waffles,' the world's first wake-me-up breakfast snack ($14.99; wiredwaffles.com). And for guys and gals who crave a boost mid-day, 'Perky Jerky,' offers up premium beef and turkey snacks that provide an all-natural kick of energy ($2.99 & up; perkyjerky.com).

    The Perfect Cup
Last but not least, nothing ruins your coffee experience more than a cup that's too hot, too cold, dripping or messy, so genius minds devised the 'Brugo Mug."  It solves virtually every coffee complaint, with a spill proof lock and built-in capability to cool a few sips at a time (via a small, separate cooling chamber, which you can bypass if you want the hot stuff!) It's available in 13 colors and will have you wondering how you ever lived without it ($19.95; brugomug.com).

TODAY contributor Bobbie Thomas runs through caffeine-infused foods and a coffee-stained shirt designed to celebrate Starbucks' 40th anniversary.

I do wear coverup, but other than that, no makeup. I stopped wearing it at age 30, and, that is when the men all finally came out of the woodwork...believe it or not...many men prefer women without makeup...and from the reactions I still get, still do....
